THE WEST COAST OF LATIN AMERICA: ANALYSIS OF PORT EFFICIENCY

Abstract

Logistic performance is one of the key factors in international trade, the economies with a higher level of logistics development grow faster. This article analyzes the ports of the West Coast of Latin America (2008 to 2017) and there are two main two objectives. First, identify whether there are external factors that may influence the production and, secondly, to determine what factors are involved in making a port more or less efficient. In addition, the level of technical efficiency in the ports is calculated using the stochastic frontier analysis methodology with panel data.
