Abstract

This research aimed to verify the influence of the level of innovation on the level of economic development, considering the disparities in development in the global scenario. Secondary data, highlighting the Global Innovation Index and the classifications of countries by income levels, adopted by the World Bank, were used. The relationship between innovation performance and the income of nations was statistically verified. The distinctive characteristics that make up the conditions of innovation among the different income groups were also identified, reiterating the contrast between the respective “starting points”, through which countries sign their own innovation processes.
