Abstract
This study examines the competitiveness and determinants of Vietnam’s canned tuna export competitiveness in the US and EU markets. The results show that Vietnam has strong and increasing competitiveness, driven by factors such as improvements in product quality, abundant domestic tuna resources, a highly open economy, inflation in both exporting and importing countries that are favorable to exports and appropriateness in the choice of export markets. In addition, recent fisheries law policy adjustments have positively impacted exports, but it is uncertain yet. In contrast, challenges in import tariffs, product quality restrictions, and the European yellow card have hindered competitiveness.
