This issue analyses the relationships between two regions which have experienced significant development: Latin America and Asia. It is a special issue that deals with an important and contemporary issue, and has been made possible thanks to the knowledge, diligence and dedication of Professor Alvaro Cuervo-Cazurra (Northeastern University, College of Business Administration). The Steering Committee and Editorial Board would like to express their gratitude for his magnificent work, as well as for the editorial efforts that have been invested in finding authors, reviewing contributions and accepting those which fulfil the requirements established by GCG.
The articles in this special issue aim to improve our understanding of economic relations between Latin America and Asia with a view to explaining the significant growth experienced by these two regions in recent years. These papers were presented at the conference held at the Monterrey Institute of Technology in Guadalajara back in August 2010. All the papers selected for this special issue underwent a process of double blind peer review.
Following a presentation of this special issue by Professor Cuervo-Cazurra, the first four articles focus on the relationship between Latin America and Asia from the Latin American standpoint, the first two analysing direct relations and the other two comparing situations in Mexico and China.
The last three provide an Asian perspective, with two analysing direct relations and the third offering certain lessons based on the analysis of China’s experiences.
Once again, we would like to thank Professor Cuervo-Cazurra for all his hard work, together with all those who make it possible for this publication to run smoothly: members of the Advisory Board, the Editorial Board, Editors and Associated Editors, reviewers, authors, and, above all, the readers.
