Abstract
The objective of this study is to verify the applicability of the Management Skills to align employees to the objectives of the sector and, consequently, a Brazilian higher education institution. Therefore, we conducted interviews and literature searches, which served to identify these characteristics. These data were presented to area manager for validation and perception of results. The results found in this case study showed that a management model for competence can be applied as a method to suggest an improvement action, aiming to contribute to a more effective, with the organization's strategic objectives.
